Mass flow controller/meter Communication and Control

Q42: What communication methods does the MFC support?

A: Common analog signals include 0–5V, 0–10V, and 4–20mA; moreover, digital options include RS232/RS485, Modbus RTU, Profibus, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, CANopen, etc. In fact, we support either 0–5V or 4–20mA (choose one), and RS485 comes as standard.

Q43: How do you connect the MFC to a PLC?

A: For analog models, you can connect them directly to the PLC’s analog input/output modules; in addition, for digital models, you connect them through the corresponding bus module. Furthermore, you need to confirm the signal range, address, baud rate, and wiring method.

Q44: How do you troubleshoot Modbus communication failure?

A: If Modbus communication fails, you should check the station number, baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity, A/B line polarity, terminal resistance, shield grounding, and communication cable quality. Moreover, you should verify each item step by step.

Q45: How do analog setpoint and feedback correspond?

A: Typically, 0–5V or 4–20mA corresponds to 0–100% F.S. However, you should refer to the manual for the exact relationship, and pay attention to common ground and isolation requirements.

Q46: Does digital communication have delay?

A: Yes, digital communication may have some delay, which depends on the bus cycle, baud rate, and number of devices. Therefore, for high-dynamic control, we recommend choosing a fast bus or using analog control.

Q47: Can you network multiple MFCs?

A: Yes, you can network multiple MFCs. For RS485/Modbus, you can connect multiple units in parallel, but you need to set different station numbers; in addition, fieldbus models can connect to the corresponding network.

Q48: Do you provide host computer software?

A: We can provide selection software, debugging software, or communication protocol documents; however, availability depends on your specific product. Therefore, please confirm with us.
