Customization Options for the mass flow controllers and mass flow meters

To better match your unique application requirements, our massflow controllers and mfm mass flow meters support a comprehensive set of customizable features. These flexible customization choices cover many practical aspects. For instance, you can configure the device for compatible gas types and select an appropriate full-scale flow range. We also offer a variety of pressure ratings. Furthermore, you can choose from various fitting configurations to suit specific installation requirements and select suitable sealing materials for different operating conditions. In addition to these features, the product supports multiple communication protocols; we can also provide customized software control solutions to meet your operational needs.

Gas/Liquid Medium Type

You can specify the gas(es) commonly used in your process, and if it is a gas mixture, then please first provide the proportion of each component, so that we can accurately calculate the flow coefficient for the full‑scale range. Therefore, we are also able to select the appropriate flow range accordingly.

All our massflow controller and mfc flow meter (both with and without screens) support switching among over 40 built‑in gases. Models with a screen allow convenient real‑time switching via the touchscreen. However, for models without a screen, you must manually convert the values using the following formula:

(Original gas full‑scale ÷ Original gas coefficient) × New gas coefficient = New gas displayed flow

When switching gases, please verify that the new gas is compatible with the current seal material. For the complete gas switching table or selection assistance, please contact our Sales Manager, Alexa(Alexa@biosflows.com), who will be happy to help.

Currently, we use thermal massflow controllers for measuring and controlling gases, whereas for liquids, the liquid mass flow controller employed is of the coriolis mass flow measurement type.

Full‑Scale Range

We provide a broad selection of mfc gas flow models covering 0 to 1500 SLM, suitable for most industrial and research applications. Please provide your actual operating conditions to Alexa(Alexa@biosflows.com), and we will recommend the most appropriate mass flow regulator model.

Pressure Range

Our massflow controllers are available in a wide variety of models covering pressures from 0 to 420 bar, and different pressure ratings may affect price and delivery time. However, except for high‑pressure versions, the general mass flow meter controller lead time is 3–4 weeks, plus 1 week for airplan shipping. Therefore, please inform our Sales Manager of your inlet and outlet pressures for massflow controller, and we only need to know the maximum pressure for massflow meter. Additionally, for flows up to 10 SLM, we support floating differential pressure operation in the range of 3–100 bar.

Fittings Type

We support multiple standard connection types and custom sizes to ensure seamless integration with your existing system. For example, common fittings include VCR fittings, Swagelok tube fittings, and NPT (which requires adapters).

Customization options for interface sizes include 1/2″, 1/4″, 3/4″, 1/8″, 3/8″, and 1″, as well as sizes such as 6mm, 8mm, φ3, φ6, φ9, and φ12 and so on.

Seal Materials

The seal material directly affects corrosion resistance and service life. We also offer several options:

Viton (standard): suitable for most common gases.

Buna, EPDM, Teflon, Kalrez: available for special gases or high‑temperature / highly corrosive conditions.

The main body is made of 316 stainless steel, which provides excellent resistance to corrosive gases.

Communication Protocols

Our products come with two built‑in communication modes, only one of which can be active at a time:

Analog signal: 4‑20 mA/0-5V

Digital signal: RS‑485 (Modbus)

Calibration and Warranty

Every mfc mass flow is strictly calibrated at the factory and comes with a calibration data sheet. Users only need to perform zero‑point stabilisation before use.

If you require a calibration certificate issued by an accredited institution, first of all, please get in touch with Alexa(Alexa@biosflows.com). Afterwards, she will assist you in making separate arrangements accordingly.

We offer a one‑year warranty, during which you are entitled to one free return‑to‑factory calibration.

Control Methods and Software

We also offer flexible control solutions to match your integration and operational preferences:

Models without a screen: can be controlled via your own integrated system or PLC.

Models with a screen: support touchscreen setting of PV (setpoint) and SV (current value).

Control Box (BOX): an independent hardware unit that powers the mfc mass flow and allows on‑site real‑time flow setting and cleaning functions – simple and convenient.

Software: can be installed on a computer to centrally monitor and adjust multiple MFCs; applicable to all models.

Surface Treatment Process

To enhance cleanliness and corrosion resistance, all critical components undergo rigorous treatment, including:
We apply ultrasonic hot DI water cleaning, high-purity nitrogen purging, and electro‑polishing, along with other specialised surface finishing processes, so that we reduce particle contamination and improve corrosion resistance.
However, massflow controllers contain lubricating grease, and if environmental considerations are a priority, then you can inform our sales manager (Alexa@biosflows.com)that you prefer the unit to be supplied without it.
